At The Ambassador, music holds a treasured spot in our hearts. Whether it’s through our specialized Music and Memory Program for Kindred or the dynamic integration of music into our physical activities, music is a vital part of our community. It provides joy and therapeutic benefits to our residents, truly enriching their lives.
Music communicates deeply, touching the heart and soul even when words fall short.
Our communal listening sessions foster social interaction among residents, offering them the opportunity to enjoy and share their favorite tunes with each other. These sessions feature live performances on the marimba—a rich-toned xylophone of African origin—and piano sing-alongs, complete with lyric sheets. This musical journey through different artists, decades, and genres not only entertains but also stimulates long-term memories, thanks to the deep-rooted nature of music in our psyche.
Our Suzuki Bass Bar, tuned an octave lower than the typical bass xylophone, enhances the musical experience with its deep, resonant tones. It plays a crucial role in our team-building exercises, where each participant plays a part of a melody, fostering a collective sense of achievement.
A standout feature at The Ambassador is our Music & Fitness program, meticulously led by our Exercise Physiologist. This program combines movement with the rhythm of live drumming, ensuring that each exercise is both effective and enjoyable. The approach not only aims to prevent physical decline but also energizes and motivates our residents, enhancing group participation.
The Ambassador’s Music and Memory Program for Kindred is designed to highlight the connective power of music. It brings residents and their families closer, even when verbal communication might be challenging. Our staff works closely with family members to craft personalized care plans and recreate the musical soundtracks of the residents’ lives.
This initiative is not just focused on the individual; it also sets a new standard of care in the industry. By using detailed logs to track the cognitive and social responses of our residents, we aim to document the long-term benefits of therapeutic music, aspiring to make it a regular part of care practices across the board.
As an accredited Music & Memory program provider, we at The Ambassador are committed to contributing to the ongoing research that demonstrates the benefits of personalized therapeutic music for individuals with cognitive challenges.
This approach to care, deeply rooted in the therapeutic powers of music, underscores our commitment to not only meeting but exceeding the standards of wellness and engagement in healthcare.
