On July 31st, surrounded by family and friends, we held a Celebration of Life here at The Ambassador. We planted a tree (in front of the building) underneath of which, in a circle, we placed a small stone for each person remembered at the event.
We have had the privilege of caring for many wonderful people over the last five years and when they no longer walk on the earth with us, we continue to feel their absence. With that emotion in our hearts, we planned a Celebration of Life, coming together as a community and larger human family, accepting that time is not infinite, but in grateful appreciation of our lives and loves.

Over 150 guests, residents, and staff joined together for a beautiful ceremony led by Rabbi Fredda Cohen, Staff Chaplain, White Plains Hospital and Rev. Pete Jones, Pastor, Hitchcock Presbyterian Church. We shared remembrance and reflection readings, alongside music by Sweet Plantain and our Music Director, Marlon Sobol. We honored life, love, and loss. We tapped our feet and clapped our hands in the joy of music, sunshine, and life. We had a Champagne toast with strawberries and delicious hors d’oeuvres as we reconnected with our Alumni families and rejoiced in the day.
Just a note of thanks for today’s celebration. It was clear that a great deal of effort went into planning and executing the day, and it was a lovely, heartfelt event. It was especially meaningful to my family, as last week was the one-year anniversary of my Dad’s passing. It’s been a comfort to know that he spent his last year in such a warm and caring environment. And, of course, it’s reassuring that Mom continues to be well cared for. Today’s celebration was a nice reminder of the Ambassador team’s commitment. Thanks for all you do. – S.G.
