About our Special Guests:
Joon Lee, MD
Functional Medicine, Holistic and Integrative Medicine
Dr. Lee is double board certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine. Her personal journey broadens her passion and scope of healing from conventional western medicine to eastern medicine with emphasis on nutrition.
Dr. Lee graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea in 1999. She completed Family Medicine Residency and the Faculty Development Fellowship Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2005, with an Excellence Award for her Social Medicine Project. Dr. Lee was appointed Assistant Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, after attending Teachers College, Columbia University for her Masters in 2006.
After personal experiences of her own health deteriorating in 2006, she realized the importance of detox, nutrition and exercise in order to be healthy. When her husband started suffering from severe neck pain from herniated discs, instead of surgery, she obtained her NYS Certification in Medical Acupuncture at New York Medical College. Limitations of conventional medicine combined with her motivation to provide the best quality care with a holistic approach, led her to establish her private practice in Scarsdale, NY in 2008.
Firmly grounded in Evidence Based Medicine, she remains open to alternative treatments and attends Naturopathic Medicine conferences. Her approach to healing is unique, she takes her time listening to each patient’s medical history, but also psychosocial, genetic and sexual history. After carefully listening and analyzing comprehensive testing, she provides patients with individualized integrative treatment plans. She treats chronic illness such as Diabetes, IBS, Thyroid problems, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Autoimmune diseases and Cancer. She is an expert in Andropause and Menopause hormone management, using bioidentical hormones. She takes care of each patient as a whole person, not just as a diagnosis to be patched up with pharmaceutical band-aids.
She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Board of Holistic and Integrative Medicine and Institute for Functional Medicine.

“My main goal is to treat each of my patients in the most natural way, using real food that gives their body the nutrients it needs to heal itself. Treatment focuses on resetting the metabolism and balancing the body to allow for healthy, science-based weight loss. We eliminate inflammation in the body, the root cause of disease, and as we do this, patients let go of excess fat, water and toxins their bodies are holding onto. Week by week I watch the amazing transformations in my patients, their skin becomes clearer and their pain goes away. They are sleeping better and managing their stress. Their blood pressure becomes normal to a point where they no longer require medications. Type II diabetes and other diseases are reversed, and most importantly they have more energy and finally feel better! My patients end treatment with an education for a lifetime and feel empowered to maintain their new healthy weight because they understand what their bodies’ needs are and WHY. Balance your body, balance your life!”Tags: All
