Home Care Aide Week (as part of National Home Care and Hospice Month in November) takes place from November 13-17. This week recognizes dedicated, compassionate caregivers – nurses, home health aides, and personal care aides – who make a significant difference in the lives of home care clients and their families.
The Ambassador is honored to host the upcoming Hudson Valley Chapter of The New York Association of Health Care Providers, Aide of the Year Awards Dinner, on November 15th, 2018. Most importantly, we will be honoring our own Nana Akoto for Aide of the Year! Nana has been an HHA for over four years, and has been a committed employee of The Ambassador of Scarsdale for almost three years.
Ambassador President, Jean Dunphy, stated “Nana is an experienced caregiver and has demonstrated himself to be a person of compassion and skill. He has the ability to provide assistance with dignity, and a sense of humor. He is calm under pressure and is always able and willing to help in daily routines and emergent situations alike.”
The New York State Association of Health Care Providers, Inc. (HCP) is a statewide trade association representing home care and community-based providers through advocacy, information and education. Founded in 1974, HCP represents approximately 500 offices of Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHCSAs), Certified Home Health Agencies (CHHAs), Long Term Home Health Care Programs (LTHHCPs), Hospices and related health organizations throughout New York State. We look forward to hosting the event and honoring dedicated, hardworking and committed Aides.
Fran Schafer, RN, is the COO of Wellness Home Care, Ltd. and currently serves as President of the Hudson Valley Chapter of The New York Association of Health Care Providers. We caught up with her last night to hear what this event means to the industry of caregivers. She shared the following with us:
“NYSAHCP Hudson Valley Chapter Aide of the Year Gala and awards dinner is a tradition for as long as I can remember. That’s got to be over 18 years. Annually, we have chosen November to celebrate our caregivers (Heroes in the Home) as part of National Home Care & Hospice Month. On November 15th, we will honor and celebrate 20 of the best of the best in our industry. Caregivers are the backbone of home care, the people on the front line of the day-to-day battle in the lives of people who expect our best at a fragile time in their lives. Our caregivers are hard working dedicated, kind, compassionate and caring. Allowing our clients and their families to remain in their homes with dignity and as independent as possible. These are the “Heroes” that give their very best for the people they care for.”
We’re excited to celebrate such dedicated workers in the industry and look forward to sharing some fabulous pictures with you all soon — be sure you’re following The Ambassador on Facebook to stay up-to-date!
